New Animation Series of BPPV and the Different Maneuvers to Treat

A new animation series of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) treatments have been uploaded to YouTube over the past few weeks. BPPV is a common inner ear condition that causes brief episodes of vertigo triggered by changes in head position. It happens when tiny calcium crystals in the ear become dislodged and move into the semicircular canals, disrupting the sense of balance. Though not dangerous, it can be very unsettling and is often treated with simple head maneuvers like the Epley maneuver

In these videos, beyond demonstrating how the maneuver is performed, an animation of what actually is going on in the inner ear balance system with crystal motion is also shown in the second half of the videos.

Animations of BPPV were made over 10 years ago and were looking kind of dated. As such, much higher quality BPPV animations were made now!

For those suffering from or learning about BPPV, hope you find these videos helpful!

As a reminder, ALWAYS perform Dix-Hallpike maneuver first (shown below) to determine which ear and canal is affected which determines which maneuver and direction will work.
