Hiatal Hernia - What Is It and How It Relates to Reflux


It is not uncommon that an ENT often sees patients suffering from reflux causing throat symptoms. As such, problems related to reflux are often encountered during reflux evaluation such as a hiatal hernia. Although ENTs do not "treat" hiatal hernias (general surgeons do), it is an often enough encountered problem in an ENT practice such that I decided to make a few videos related to what a hiatal hernia is and how it is corrected if it significantly contributes to reflux symptoms. These videos were made in cooperation with Dr. Kevin Gillian at Virginia Heartburn and Hernia Institute.
