Ever since 2012 when a research paper came out suggesting that drinking alkaline water (pH 8.8) may help with symptoms of reflux by deactivating a stomach enzyme called pepsin, patients have increasingly switched to high-pH water for this health benefit [more info]. Unfortunately, obtaining alkaline water typically required purchasing many plastic bottles of alkaline water over time which is not exactly environmentally friendly.
Due to such environmental concerns, several companies have come out with products to enable one to make your own alkaline water (~pH 9) from the tap including counter-top contraptions utilizing filters or electrolysis. However, most interesting are the portable water bottles that can not only make alkaline water from tap, but can also purify it using filters.
Perhaps the most high-end of these alkaline water bottles are those made by Level Bottle costing almost $100.
There are cheaper alkaline water bottles that go for around $50 made by other companies including Invigorated Water, BlueQQ, GOSOIT, etc.
Regardless of the company, all alkaline water bottles "create" alkalinity via filters which one would have to replace periodically.
