Fauquier ENT Social Media Update

About once per year, I like to reassess how Fauquier ENT is doing online ever since it was digitally born in 2005. And over the years, I am happy to say it has grown substantially beyond anything anyone would have expected. I would like to think it's because quality and trusted information is provided, but who knows? Overall, the website now gets about 28,000 hits per day or almost one million hits per month. Since 2005, it has received more than 13 million views. Of these, there has…

Online Healthcare Plagiarism (Even Among ENTs)

Image courtesy of cooldesign at  FreeDigitalPhotos.net It is not just high school students who are committing plagiarism... it seems to be occurring even among healthcare professionals (even other ENTs) and more astoundingly even among healthcare organizations who portray someone else's work as their own online ! Thanks to  @earsurgeonuk who brought this to my att…

Obtaining "Authorship" for Improved Search Rankings

"Good" Medicine by its very nature is complex and full of jargon that is difficult for the lay person to understand. Furthermore, even if jargon-free many medically related articles are too ambiguous and often do not answer questions which people specifically search for. So, when a phys…

Keyword Optimization for Medical Websites

As a general rule of thumb, physicians are terrible at running a business... including their own practice. This unfortunate inability also extends to managing practice websites. When it comes to websites, most physicians take the attitude of "if you build it, they will come" which is doomed to failure. The better way of phrasing it would be "only if patients can find you, they might come." Finding you is the first step... And one important element of accomplishing th…
