Man Files $15 million Lawsuit Against NYC Citi Bike Claiming Smell Loss From Bike Crash

Apparently while riding this rental bike, the front wheel struck a wheelstop installed near a bicycle docking station which the man did not notice, flipping him resulting in head trauma. Video: Chopstick Enters Nose and Pierces Brain in Child

A reader recently emailed me this amazing AP video of a 14-month-old toddler who was playing in the kitchen when he fell, sending a chopstick up thru his nose and into his brain. Surgeons were able to remove the chopstick and the child did just fine. However, it is quite likely this child has now permanently lost his sense of smell (anosmia) since the smell nerve is located where the chopstick entered the brain (cribiform plate). USC Stafon Johnson Crushes His Voicebox & Undergoes Emergency Surgery

News organizations including ABC News reported on Sept 28, 2009 that USC tailback, Stafon Johnson, was bench-pressing a 275 pound bar when it slipped and landed on his neck crushing his voicebox resulting in emergency surgery at California Hospital Medical Center.
