Blood Thinner Use and Sino-Nasal Surgery (Septum and Sinus Surgery)

Cross-Section showing relationship of septum, sinus, eye, and brain There is an active abhorrence between blood thinner medications and ENT surgeons. Not only do blood thinners markedly increase risk of nosebleeds which often require nasal packing   (even without surgery), but it can complicate any type of sino-nasal surgery, particularly septoplasty and sinus surgery . With septoplasty or sinus surgery (collectively called sino-nasal surgery), not only is the nasal mucosa actively c…

Meghan Trainor Suffers Vocal Cord Hemorrhage and Cancels Concerts

Image by Ronald Woan of Wikipedia Media  reported July 3, 2015 that Meghan Trainor of "All About The Base" fame is canceling upcoming concerts due to a painful vocal cord hemorrhage. Readers may recall that this was the same issue that affected Adele in 2011. She is currently on  voice rest , but I would not be surprised if she ultimately pursues surgery. And along with surgery ... he is now on voice rest for an indefinite period of time. This condition is the same reason Adele underwent vocal cord surgery in 2011 which mandated a several month period of voice r…

R&B Singer Maxwell with Vocal Cord Hemorrhage

At least that's what the  Washington Post  reported on June 22, 2012. This has resulted in cancellation of his summer tour. Per media reports, his vocal cords are swollen with hemorrhage. Some fans may recall that something similar happened to Adele in winter of 2011 which resulted in her also canceling a number of engagements. She ultimately had surgery to correct her problem. Normally, the vocal cords are pearly white without any vasculature. Watch a  video  of how this e…
